Well, here is my version of Wingspan/Angry Dragon. The knitting is done, but the finishing is not. Ends need to be woven in, and it needs to be blocked. I had to finish the last triangle with yarn from my stash. It is a good color (the pinkish gray at the end) but it is wool, which the rest of the yarn is not. I found a bit of ivory silk that I put along with to add a little shimmer, but this little segment has no beads. The neck edge was done with my last ball of yarn, a blue/green with metallic thread and blue beads. The pattern calls for 5 knitted rows plus the bind off, but I didn’t have enough yarn, so I did 3 rows and the bind off. Guess what? I don’t love it.
It looks kind of interesting spread out on the deck, but I can’t figure out a good way to wear it. It is too long to drape around my shoulders and pin in the front. The ends don’t hang down nicely in the front without pinning. If I wrap it around more than once it is too bulky. I just don’t love it. I need to step back from this one for a while. Put it away, quit thinking about it, take a break.
I will leave it as is for now, so I can see how the colors look when knitted, but I will probably take it apart at some point. I think I like the pattern, maybe with different yarn (less color blocky), and smaller. I do like the yarn, I just don’t know what to do with it. But I’m sure I’ll be back to both of these at some point, the yarn and the pattern. But probably not together.
I have other projects like this. They look done, but they are just waiting for the inspiration that transforms them into something else. Angry Dragon can go live with them for a while.
