I can’t remember the last time I went to a movie in a theater on the day that it opened. But last night we went to see Despicable Me 3, and it was so much fun. Anyone who grew up in the 80s will get a kick out of it, and it is a good next installment in the Gru, Lucy, girls, and minions story.
We went to see it at the Waterworks Cinemas, and I guess I don’t get out much, but have movie theaters ever changed. The theater at Waterworks is part of the MovieScoop Cinemas group, and it has been totally renovated to have deluxe seats in every room. And by ‘deluxe seat’ I mean over-sized electronic leather recliners. Every seat, every room. With a push of a button you can recline the seat and raise the leg-rest to the perfect degree comfortable for you to view the screen in perfect luxury. The rows of seats have been set so that even when fully reclined, there is room to walk to the side aisles without bumping or crawling over anyone. It is truly awesome. The number of seats per room has been reduced, but still ranges from around 50 to 150 seats, so still plenty of room. And now, the seats are numbered so when you get a ticket, you are getting a specific seat.
This is all quite an update from when I went to movies as a kid, and from what I hear, more improvements are being planned even as we speak. Going to a movie is quite an experience now, and I want to go again, soon.
